Guy Style v. Girl Style Poll Results

Overall, boys and gals of Northwest Arkansas as a whole are pretty divided on the big fashion questions.

Take jumpsuits for instance, they are favored by 53% and disliked by 47%. Cut-outs and cool cuts had a close call, too, with 51% of the overall vote being for trendy cut- outs, while 49% preferred cool hems on clothing.

Oh, and that next first date you go on, stand to be even more perplexed as to what the heck to wear. Fifty one perfect of the men and women polled think you should go the comfy and casual route, while 49% think you should go glam.

When it comes to men versus women, the results were surprising--sometimes. I think I can speak for most women when I say we assume a man wants to see us in a short, tight dress--well ladies, at least in NWA, or at least according to the men polled--we're wrong. Fifty six percent favor the maxi dress over the mini. Women, on the other hand were the ones who favored the mini (63% to 37%)!

However, on a first date, the maxi may not apply. Men still prefer a little va va voom (78%) to twenty two percent who think comfort is important. Men also prefer pumps over wedges and cut-outs over cool cuts like high-low hemlines.

Men sit on the same fence as women when it comes to high waists. Sixty nine percent of women are in favor, as well as 67% of men. Rompers share the same split story, with 62% of women in favor of them as well as 56% of men.

The other surprising result lies with what my boyfriend tends to tilt his head at and ask, "Is that a onesie?" -- jumpsuits. Who knew that 63% of men like them, while only 52% of women do.

What all of this means? People like different things. Shocking, right?

Well, no. But maybe we can take this from it:

The great divides in the world of fashion can remind us to try that thing the other half prefers. Give those things "you'd never wear" a shot. You may discover how much you love the look that was always outside of our comfort zone. And more importantly, discover how fabulous stepping outside of that zone--in any aspect of life--can be.
