Runway Hair.. A Few "Do's" for Fashion Week

My favorite thing about fashion shows is the runway hair! You never know what you are going to see.

I know that there is going to be a lot of amazing hair showing up here in Fayetteville at NWAFW. So who wouldn't want to keep their fashion show hair longer than just one night? I have some secrets to keeping your "Do" tidy while you sleep. You may not realize it, but your grandmother already knows how to make a style last and last. Satin pillowcases! Yes!

Cotton is a very fibrous fabric. It grabs your hair while you sleep and it holds on tight, causing your hair to come undone. However, the smooth texture of satin allows your hair to slip around without making a mess. So just before you go to bed, lightly mist your entire hair "Do" with hairspray and let it dry before you get in bed. If you have an extra fancy "Do", wrap your hair in toilet paper before you lay down. You may be a little smooshed when you wake, but nothing that can't be easily brought back to life!

The beauty of the satin pillowcase is that it's not just for up "Do's" and fashion show hair. These tips work for that fabulous blowout you get from the salon or just if you don't want to mess up your hair while you sleep. This way you can wear it a second day. Or third. Or fourth! (Shampooing daily is for boys!)

The cotton "problem" carries over to towels as well. You watched your mother do it straight from the shower and ever since you had enough hair, you used a towel to swaddle your hair. This seems like a great way to remove excess water before drying and styling. The problem is that the filaments from the terry cloth towel grab a hold and rough up the cuticles of your hair. This can make hair frizzy and difficult to comb out. It also can cause breakage and split ends. I recommend replacing that hair towel with an old t-shirt. The smooth t-shirt is still absorbent, but it cannot reek the havoc on your hair that your trusty towel does. You use it the same way as the towel. Straight from the shower, wrap your hair in the t-shirt to remove the bulk of the water. Then you let it down and apply a small amount of product- curly girls can use a curl cream or lotion and straight haired girls can apply a little heat protector. Now put the t-shirt back on your head, this time leaving your hair out of the twist. This way your hair is continuing to dry while you put on your face. Now just dry and style as usual!

These easy to do tricks take less time than your usual routine. The benefits will make your hair smoother and healthier FOREVER!
