Looking Forward to Fall 2020!

URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT

It is with deep regret that we must announce the cancellation of our Spring 2020 runway events. Given the current and rapidly developing situation with the coronavirus, we feel it is no longer possible to pursue our expected level of production while also being able to ensure the safety and well being of all of our participants.

 

 

We anticipate rolling all content planned for this season into NWA Fashion Week Fall 2020, which has been scheduled for October 23-24 at the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville.

 

 

While we are saddened by the need to take these steps, we feel reassured that we will continue to produce groundbreaking creative content under conditions that keep all of our beloved team members, creative producers, and volunteers safe.

 

 

NWA Fashion Week Fall 2020 will be a record-breaking season, with more content than we have ever programmed, and we will be getting to work immediately to build out the most impressive set of fashion events our state has ever seen.

 

 

Educational and workshop programming will continue throughout the Spring and Summer at the Arkansas Arts & Fashion Forum. A one of a kind event encompassing The Future of Fashion, featuring 10 brilliant designers’ collections that were developed during this season’s NWAFW Designer Cohort Program. Guest speakers include: Gabrielle Korn, Director of Fashion and Style at Refinery29, Denise Incandela, SVP and Group General Manager of Fashion for Walmart e-commerce, a visionary retail executive who has delivered growth and transformation for brands and luxury and mass retailers for over 20 years, Deanah Baker, Senior VP, General Merchandise Manager Walmart Apparel US and Jayne Harkness, Business Mentor for the Council of Fashion Designers of America. These distinguished guests will speak to current trends in the global fashion conversation and regional impact of fashion on the culture and industry of NWA. This event is presented by The Arkansas Arts & Fashion Forum.

Bravo’s Project Runway Designer Brittany Allen will be featured as our headline collection on Saturday April 18th. She will premier her Fall 2020 collection for the first time outside of New York on our runway at NWA Fashion Week! Allen made a huge splash on Project Runway Season 18, winning the first competition as well as an amazing collaboration with Fashion Industry super star Ashley Longshore. Voted fan favorite, she has several looks that are currently available through 19th Amendment. Plus, witness a variety of couture and avant-garde designers from Arkansas and beyond. Proceeds from NWA Fashion Week Support The Arkansas Arts & Fashion Forum, a non-profit organization founded in 2017 with the hope of providing a central location for creative producers in Arkansas to find professional development resources, creative inspiration, and a community of support.

The mission of the Arkansas Arts & Fashion Forum is to provide educational opportunities and professional support for aspiring avant-garde fashion designers, artists, and other creative professionals who are committed to building a vibrant and inspired creative community in Arkansas. Within this mission, the Arkansas Arts & Fashion Forum pursues three main areas of programming:

 

• Providing educational workshops, classes and panel discussions for both fashion professionals and the public to increase understanding of the art of fashion.
• Providing educational scholarships and production grants to aspiring fashion designers.
• Providing educational mentorship opportunities for aspiring photographers, models, hair stylists, makeup artists, videographers and other aspiring professionals to work with established professionals in an educational environment for the development and enhancement of professional skills and knowledge.

 

Each season the Arkansas Arts & Fashion Forum dedicates time and resources to ensuring that designers based in the state of Arkansas are able to participate in NWA Fashion Week, ensuring visibility to their brands and professional development opportunities toward the goal of establishing a thriving fashion industry in our state.
